Update On Jason

How great is GOD? Just received this from Beverly, Jason's mom today.

Hi All:Jason got to come home yesterday. He is settled in and doing his rehab exercises as I type this. He will go to outpatient therapy twice a week for the next month and will not be allowed to drive until he gets to take the back brace off (another 5 to 6 weeks).

Thanks to all of you, he has magazines, word finds, puzzles, handheld games, movies and more to keep him occupied!!

Feel free to visit – he enjoys the company!!

Again, thanks for everything, especially all the prayers!!

Update On Jason

Sounds like God is listening to our prayers. Here is the latest update on Jason. I got this from his mother Saturday afternoon.

All:Sorry for the delay in sending out another update.

Jason was transferred to the Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation on Wednesday morning. The first doctor that saw him said he would probably be at the facility for one to two weeks. As soon as she left, Jason said there was no way he would be there for two weeks.

As of today, I also firmly believe he will not have to be there two weeks. He has made remarkable progress since Wednesday. He went from walking with a walker (in a great deal of pain) very slowly down the hospital hallway on Wednesday to walking without a walker yesterday. He still has it close by, but does very well without it. He will have to wear a back brace with a section connected to his left thigh, for six to eight weeks, anytime he is out of bed. It is one of the few things that he will not be able to do for himself when he comes home. He does still have some numbness and weakness in his left leg and foot, but that should continue to improve as the nerves settle down.

His wonderful smile is back, including the dimples and he is quickly gaining back his appetite. So I just wanted to share the good news with all of you and thank you all again for your prayers, visits, food, etc!!!

I hope each of you have a wonderful Easter with your families!!

Update On Jason

I just received this...please continue to pray...

Hi All:

It’s been a few days since I’ve given an update to some of you, so I thought I should do that.

Jason has had a rough few days since his surgery last week. Lots of pain and a tough time adjusting from IV pain medicine to oral pain medicine. I believe he is almost through that hurdle. Now he just needs to start eating – he hasn’t had much of an appetite, which is also caused by the pain medicine.

However, he has been doing physical therapy at the hospital the last three days. He has gotten out of bed twice each day. Today he actually walked down the hall in the hospital with his brace on and the help of a walker. Not too far, but every step counts. He also sat up in a chair, again with his brace on, for about an hour.

It looks like they will be moving him across the street to Baylor Rehabilitation Center later today or tomorrow. That will allow him to get more intense therapy and learn to tie his shoes and get dressed without bending his back. I do not know how long he will have to be there, it will depend on the doctor at that facility.

It’s just very tough going from a very active 19 year old to where he is now, both physically and mentally. But, again, I have no doubt that he will pull through just fine in plenty of time to walk his sister down the aisle!!

It is through your thoughts and prayers, visits, gifts, texts, food, daily dog care, house-cleaning and so much more that we have made it through this last week.

Thanks from all of Jason’s family!!!

Update On Jason

I received this email this morning.

Morning All:Just wanted to give you all an update on Jason. He has not had the best of weekends, but I am hoping today will be better. He got out of bed yesterday twice, once just to stand and the other one he took a couple of shuffle steps with a walker. One of the doctors came in this morning and said something about possibly sending him to a rehab facility before sending him home. So hopefully, we will have a good day and get more info (not a lot happens on the weekends) on next steps.

Jason has a long way to go, but I have no doubt that he will get there. All of the prayers, well wishes, food, and gift baskets for Jason are much appreciated. Not to mention the visits from so many of you.

Thanks

Klayton

It turned out that he had strep throat. Because Nan-Nan took him to the doctor I asked her if it was indeed strep to get him a shot. I wont do a shot with him, ever since his 4 year old well exam where he had to get 4 immunizations and it took 8 doctors and nurses to hold him down as he SCREAMED...MOMMY SAVE ME, I will never get him another shot if there is another option, however, if someone else takes him, I am all for a shot. He will feel better quicker, I don't have to spend more money at the pharmacy or fight with him on taking his meds. So nan-nan had them give him a shot and yes he screamed and cried and it took 3 of them this time to hold him down but he was ALOT better by this morning. Thank you Nan-Nan. Do you have any plans on May 22, 2010 (the twins 4 year old well check up, the next time they have to get immunization shots and they have to get FOUR!!!) I will not be the one who takes them. Either Nan-Nan and Daddy will take one or Daddy will take each of them at different times of the day!! THANK GOODNESS FOR NAN-NAN'S AND DADDY'S!

Update on Jason

This is from Jason's mom, I got it on Friday.

Jason's surgery went well yesterday. The doctor was able to reposition the L5/S1 vertebrae and stabilize his pelvic area using bone grafts and lots of various rods and pins. He will definitely be setting the metal detectors off at the airports. The awesome news is that once the bone graft takes hold and his recovery is complete, he will be able to return to any and all previous activities including baseball. Please keep your prayers coming, he begins a long road today. He is in alot of pain right now and running a temp - all to be expected after surgery. I know he will come through just fine due to all of the people sending prayers his way. Thanks again for everything.Beverly

Please continue to pray for him and his family!

Update on Jason (april 2)

I just got an email from his mother and this is what she had to say:

Hi All:Jason had a long day yesterday. He could not believe it was STILL Wednesday every time he woke up. He is ready to have the surgery so he can get out of bed finally. The surgeon came by last night to give us more details on the surgery. He is only going to fuse the L5 vertabrae and create a cage around it to keep it in place. He will use a couple of different bone grafts, but is hoping not to have to use Jason's own bone from his pelvis. There is a chance that the nerve sac is damaged and if so, he will repair it. He only wanted us to know that because it would make the surgery longer. Jason did ask him about sports and he said that after the fusion has taken hold, he should be able to return to any and all of his previous activities. Again, another blessing.,Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, calls, text messages, etc. They are all appreciated. They will be coming to get him around noon and the surgery will start around 1:30. I wil send another update later tonight.**Sue, please share with our co-workers (please include Pam Schulman, who can send it out to my previous co-workers)**Coach Groth - please share with the Apache Baseball family**Coach Gaddis & Allison, please share with Lewisville Farmer Football & Baseball coaches and booster clubsBeverly

Please continue to pray...give some extra prayers today as he goes through surgery.
